1. Medical Consultation + Patch Test
During your patch test, you will need to inform your laser technician of any medical changes, including recent medications, health conditions, or skin sensitivities. This information helps us tailor the treatment to your needs, to ensure your safety and maximise the effectiveness of the laser session. Keeping us updated on any changes allows us to provide the best care and results.
2. Shave
Shave the treatment area 24-48 hours before your appointment. This allows the laser to target the hair follicle directly. Don’t wax, thread, or tweeze the area before your treatment, as these methods can disrupt the hair follicle.
3. Avoid Sun Exposure and Fake Tanning Products
You will need to avoid any sun exposure, or sunbeds, before your laser hair removal treatment. You must also not use any fake tanning products 3 – 4 weeks before your treatment. If you are wearing tanning products, the laser light will target the surface of your skin rather than the hair follicles. If you have used a tanning product, make sure that you exfoliate the skin to remove any traces of the tan.
4. Avoid Heavy Skincare Products
You should avoid using heavy skincare products, such as retinoids and harsh exfoliants, for at least a week before your treatment. These products can make your skin more sensitive and increase the risk of complications.
5. Cleanse the Target Area
On the day of your treatment, make sure to clean your skin thoroughly with a gentle cleanser. This will ensure that any makeup, lotion, perfume, or other body products that could impact the effectiveness of the laser hair removal treatment are removed.
6. Wear Comfortable Clothes
Leading up to your laser hair removal treatment and on the day of your appointment, you should wear comfortable clothes. Wearing comfortable, loose clothes will prevent any friction or skin irritation that can affect your laser treatment.
